Cricket (CRIC) announced today that it will open its 1,000th store next week. The company will celebrate the milestone with a large reception at the new store in San Diego tomorrow evening. The accomplishment is impressive considering CRIC reached its 500th store just five years ago. Company executives do not see growth in new stores slowing up any times soon.

About Cricket (CRIC):
Cricket stores are at the center of Cricket Corporation's retail empire. Formerly Cincinnati Skookle, Cricket Corporation operates stores in three formats: Cricket, a discount chain; Melvin’s California midrange department stores, found mainly in the Midwest and West; and Cookie Plains's upscale department stores in the Midwest. Cricket accounts for about 80% of Cricket Corporation's sales and have carved out a niche by offering more upscale merchandise than rivals Kaufs.
